Considered by many to be the finest Southern Gospel quartet ever formed, The Statesmen is definitely one of the most well-known groups of all time. The membership changed a little over the years, but the most famous ensemble was composed of Hovie Lister, Rosie Rozell, James "Big Chief" Wetherington, Jake Hess, and Doy Ott. Recorded in 1963.
